Pilbara Projects, WA
Kalamazoo Resources has an exciting portfolio of prospective lithium projects in the Pilbara region of Western Australia – DOM’s Hill, Marble Bar and Pear Creek.
In December 2021, Kalamazoo entered into an exploration/development option and earn-in agreement with leading Chilean lithium producer Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. (SQM) in respect to the DOM’s Hill and Marble Bar Lithium Projects. SQM has been granted the right to earn an initial 30% interest (to a maximum of 70%) in all mineral rights at the two projects by sole funding a minimum of $12 million of exploration and development activities over a four-year period.
DOM’s Hill
The DOM’s Hill Lithium Project has a landholding of 122km2 and is located ~50km from Pilgangoora. The Project contains a similar geological setting with target host rocks strongly analogous to that of the nearby world-class Pilgangoora (Pilbara Minerals ASX: PLS) and Wodgina (Albemarle NYSE: ALB/Mineral Resources ASX: MIN) pegmatite-hosted lithium deposits. The project geology for the region, and the prospective granite-greenstone contact zone, or “Goldilocks Zone”, is clearly shown in the WA regional scale aeromagnetic image here.
Marble Bar
The Marble Bar Lithium and Gold Project has a landholding of 125km2 and is located 6.5km east of Marble Bar. Similar to the DOM’s Hill Project, recent technical reviews of the Marble Bar Project have found this project is also highly prospective for lithium mineralisation due to its favourable location on the margin of the Moolyella tin and tantalum alluvial field. In addition, within these tenements, there are known mapped occurrences of lithium-bearing pegmatites. Whilst the known lithium occurrences are largely comprised of lithium micas (i.e., lepidolite) this area demonstrates the positive characteristics and empirical evidence favourable for the presence of spodumene-bearing pegmatites.
The Project has not been the subject of any modern exploration for lithium, although encouragingly, Global Lithium Resources (ASX: GL1) has announced the discovery of the nearby 10.5Mt @ 1.0% Li20 Archer deposit also located on the margin of the Moolyella tin and tantalum field, approximately 25km to the north.
Pear Creek
In December 2021, Kalamazoo Resources acquired the the Pear Creek Lithium Project which covers ~147km2 of highly prospective lithium geology located between the Company’s DOM’s Hill and Marble Bar Lithium Projects. The Project consists of three granted Exploration Licences (E45/3856, E45/4616 and E45/5813) covering highly prospective Archaean granite-greenstone terrane in proximity to the nearby Pilgangoora and Wodgina lithium deposits.
The Pear Creek project area is and has historically been considered prospective for a range of gold, nickel, cobalt and base metal deposits. The area has been recently re-rated for its gold potential due to shear hosted gold resources being identified to the east at the Warrawoona Project by Calidus Resources (ASX: CAI) and the intrusion related mineralisation at the Hemi discovery at Mallina by De Grey Mining (ASX: DEG).
